Vancouver Neighbourhood
Saturday starts with a slow walk down Main Street, and the 9 bus rumbling along Broadway on the way home.
Mount Pleasant is home to about 23,000 people, with a median age in the mid-thirties, and most of them rent — a little over a third of the homes here are owner-occupied. What comes up for sale is mostly apartments, a smaller number of townhouses, and only the occasional house.
One- and two-bedroom places make up most of what's on the market. Three bedrooms and up are a small share of it.
For getting around, the 9 runs along Broadway to Main Street, and the 8 takes Fraser through to Waterfront Station. The 99 B-Line crosses the city, carrying you from East Van over to the west side and back.
Main Street is the strip — shopping, restaurants, nightlife and vintage stores. Nemesis and Revolver are where you go for coffee. Save-On-Foods covers the groceries, and there's a liquor store and on-street parking.
Mount Pleasant Community Centre sits at 1 Kingsway.
