North Vancouver Neighbourhood

Lower Lonsdale

Twelve minutes on the SeaBus from Waterfront Station and you step off at Lonsdale Quay, the market and the water right there in front of you.

Lower Lonsdale is a waterfront neighbourhood of about 18,000 people, with a median age in the early forties and ownership split close to evenly with renting. Most of what comes up for sale is a one- or two-bedroom apartment. Townhouses follow, and houses are a small share.

The SeaBus runs from Lonsdale Quay to Waterfront Station in about twelve minutes, and from there you're onto the SkyTrain and the downtown bus network. The transit terminal at Lonsdale Quay handles buses from across the North Shore and Vancouver.

Lonsdale Avenue is the spine. Shipyards Coffee and Caffè Artigiano are the coffee, Butter Lane Bake Shop is the bakery, Streetcar Brewing is the brewery, and Kitchen Craft Eatery and The Lobby Restaurant are close by. Lonsdale Quay Market holds more than 60 locally owned businesses on the water.

There are eleven parks inside Lower Lonsdale, and Harbourside Beach is a short trip from Lonsdale Avenue. One frank note: the neighbourhood has no sanctioned off-leash area. The Harry Jerome Community Recreation Centre is open at 130 East 23rd Street, between Lonsdale Avenue and St. Georges Avenue.

Two independent schools sit inside the boundary: St. Edmund's elementary at 535 Mahon Ave, and St. Thomas Aquinas secondary at 541 Keith Rd W. For public schools, run your exact address through the school district's locator tool to confirm the catchment.
