Vancouver Neighbourhood
Coffee on Cornwall Avenue, then the short walk down to Kits Beach — that's the Saturday morning I'd miss most if I ever left.
Kitsilano is a neighbourhood of about 43,000 people, with a median age in the late thirties, and most people here rent. What comes up for sale is mostly apartments, houses next, townhouses fewer; one- and two-bedroom homes are the most common.
Buses do the work here. The 99 B-Line serves Kitsilano, and routes 4, 7, 9, 44 and 84 run nearby. The closest SkyTrain lines are the Expo Line and the Canada Line, which runs to Richmond and connects to YVR.
West 4th Avenue is the main strip for shops and restaurants. Kits Beach Coffee sits at 1945 Cornwall Ave, and VIVA Cafe & Bakery does coffee and pastries near the beach. For groceries, there's The Parthenon.
Kits Beach and Vanier Park are the open ground people actually use. Kitsilano Community Centre is at 2690 Larch St, and its rink runs public skating and lessons for all ages and abilities.
Lord Tennyson, General Gordon, Bayview Community, Queen Elizabeth and Henry Hudson are the public elementary schools, and Kitsilano Secondary is at 2706 Trafalgar St. St Augustine's and Madrona School are independent. Check the school board catchment map for any specific address.
