Vancouver Neighbourhood

Fairview

Walk north down the cross streets and the view lines up at the end of the block: the waterfront, the downtown towers, the North Shore mountains behind them.

Fairview is a west-side neighbourhood of about 27,000 people, with a median age in the late thirties, and most people here rent rather than own. What comes up for sale is apartments and townhouses, mostly one- and two-bedroom; detached houses aren't part of the mix.

Elysian Coffee has two shops here, one on Broadway and one at Fifth and Burrard. Café Salade de Fruits is in the neighbourhood as well.

Heather Park has the off-leash dog area, about 1,200 square metres of wood chips. Elsewhere, dogs are welcome in city parks but stay on leash unless it's a designated off-leash area. Vancouver General Hospital sits inside the neighbourhood.

L'Ecole Bilingue Elementary is the public elementary, at 1166 W 14th Ave. Vancouver Alternate School, a public secondary, is at 1580 Broadway W.

Blessed Sacrament School, independent, is at 3020 Heather St, and Canada Royal Arts High School, also independent, is at 896 8th Ave W. Check the school board's catchment map for your exact address before you count on any of it.
